June Femastrology 2018
By Victoria Bearden
The Sun in Gemini stimulates communication and networking. The Sign of the Twins is linked to the mind, learning, and exchanging ideas. The concepts of trading and bartering are definitely in the realm of Gemini. Mercury, the God with wings on his heels, rules this sign, symbolizing the power of thought and imagination. Gemini energy enhances speaking, writing, research, and studying. June is always a good time to socialize. Occasionally we can get a little scattered under this influence, attempting to juggle too many activities at once.
The Sun in Gemini asks us these questions: Are you developing your mind? Do you need more stimulation and new experiences? What new subjects would you like to learn about? Do you need to work on your communication skills? Are you open to looking at both sides of important issues? Are you aware of how your thoughts influence your experiences? With the Sun in Air Sign Gemini, the door is wide open for exchanging ideas and sharing our knowledge with others. This is a fantastic time to take a class, teach a class, or join a social group.
Uranus entered Taurus on May 15, 2018. Did you feel it? As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, Uranus goes into a new sign of the zodiac every 7 years. And right when it does, there is often a “signature event,” such as an earthquake, or other big earth change. This time, right on schedule, the Kilauea Volcano began intense eruptions and activity on the big island of Hawaii. Interestingly enough, this volcano is linked to another planetary event that is gearing up to repeat as we approach the year 2020. This is when Saturn and Pluto will align in Capricorn, which is a very, very big deal. It was not long after Saturn and Pluto’s last rendezvous in January 1983, that the Kilauea volcano erupted in Hawaii. It has become the longest-lasting volcanic eruption, and it’s still cooking!
There’s a New Moon at 22° Gemini on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. New Moons represent a clean slate and a chance to renew our intentions. Gemini is strongly related to writing, which makes this New Moon a powerful opportunity to journal or put pen to page to create some potent affirmations. Remember, when writing down your affirmations, keep it positive and in the present tense when possible. Example: “I am attracting positive new relationships into my life.”
Summer Solstice falls on June 21, 2018. The Sun goes into water sign Cancer, and a new seasonal cycle begins! It’s the longest day of the year, and the shortest night. Also known as Litha, Midsummer, or St. John’s Eve, Summer Solstice was traditionally celebrated in Ireland by the lighting of bonfires. This custom is rooted in ancient history when the Celts lit fires in honor of the Goddess. It is a celebration of light, abundance, and the vital, life giving energy of the sun. Have your own Solstice event or join in with others to usher in this new phase. The Sun will be in opposition to Saturn on this Solstice, illuminating our collective need for commitment, responsibility, maturity, and patience. Since the Solstice chart tends to “predict” themes for the quarter, the spotlight will be on those in positions of authority, and how they choose to wield their power; an ongoing theme while Saturn and Pluto travel through the sign of Capricorn in the years to come.
Mars, the Warrior Planet, goes Retrograde in Aquarius on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, and will remain so until August 27, 2018. Mars goes retro once every two years and can be a little bit frustrating, particularly for new ventures. Mars rules energy, passion, action, initiative, and the way you assert yourself, so you may find you have to dig a little more deeply to find your motivation under this influence. In conflict and competition, they say that whoever “fires the first shot” during Mars retrograde with usually lose. Needless to say, Mars retrograde is usually not a favorable time for negotiations, as people tend to be grumpier and more frustrated on the way to the table.
There’s a Full Moon at 06° Capricorn on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 9:53 PM PDT. The Full Moon in Capricorn lines up tightly with the Sea-Goat’s ruler, serious Saturn. This combo can be pretty somber but is good for delving in to ancient wisdom and deep spiritual practices.
Opportunity Days: June 7, 10, 11, 13, 23, and 26
